Call for Nominations for 2018 WCMS Officers!
Submit your name/nomination for the following WCMS officer positions to
Member nominations will be included on the 2018 WCMS ballot. The deadline for submissions is Friday, September 29, 2017. The following positions are open- submit your nominations to dnixon@
Officers of the Executive Council:
The Executive Council shall be the executive body of WCMS. It shall coordinate and supervise the functions and activities of this Society. It may, if so designated, act as the task force on ethics of this Society. It may make appropriate recommendations to this Society on applications for membership. It shall have power to act for this Society during inter- vals between meetings where emergencies require prompt action. The Executive Council meets monthly with the exception of July and August.
PRESIDENT-ELECT: The President-Elect position is a three-year commitment (President-Elect, President, and Past-President.) The President-Elect shall assist the President in the performance of the president’s duties and shall act for the President in the president’s absence. In case of vacancy in the office of President, the President-Elect shall succeed to the presidency. The President-Elect shall be a member of the Executive Council and shall be a member of the Finance Committee. The President- Elect shall, in addition, have such powers and duties as are commonly incident to the office of vice- president of an organization.
SECRETARY: The Secretary shall be a member of the Executive Council. The Secretary shall attend all meetings of this Society and of the Executive Council. The Secretary will chair the Membership Committee. The Secretary shall assure the minutes of the meetings of the Society are complete, accurate, and archived. The Secretary will assure all policies of the Society are up-to-date, accessible, and archived. The Secretary shall certify to the Secretary of the State Society the names of the Delegates and Alternate Delegates who shall represent the Society at any annual or special session of the House of Delegates of the State Society.
TREASURER: The Treasurer shall be a member of the Executive Council. The Treasurer shall render, to the Executive Council, an account of all financial
transactions and of the financial condition of this Society at the end of each year, or whenever required by the President or the Executive Council. The Treasurer shall be Chair of the Finance Committee. The Treasurer will review the annual budget in consultation with the Finance Committee, and report to the Executive Council the accounting of all revenue, payables and receivables. The Treasurer shall also perform such other duties as are required by the Treasurer’s office, by these Bylaws or by appropriate action of the Executive Council
or this Society.
Additional Executive Council Nominations include:
  Three elected Council member positions to serve one year.
  One medical student position
  One resident position
  One young physician (in first or second year of practice) position.
Delegates and Alternate Delegates:
The delegates and in their absence or disability, the Alternate Delegates shall attend and faithfully represent the members of this Society in the House of Delegates of the State Society. The House of Delegates (HOD) is the legislative body for the Society and shall have the power and authority to adopt, institute, and carry out such methods and measures as it may deem to be in the best interests of the medical profession in Michigan.
